Menopause And The End Of Childbearing

Posted By on November 16, 2011

Menopause does mean the end of the childbearing years and for some this can be a hard thing to deal with. Some women do welcome this and find it a big relief. But everyone still feels a slight twinge of sadness when they see someone who is pregnant or a newborn baby. These feelings can be hard to deal with at times.

The hardest hit with menopause is women who never had children. This can often be a serious source of regret. It is important to find someone who understands to talk about these feelings. Reassure yourself that it was a strong personal choice to not have children and a decision that was right for you. Women who have had children often greet menopause with open arms and feel a sense of relief not having to worry about birth control or any more pregnancies. Some women do get a last minute twinge of maybe wanting another. There is still a possibility of getting pregnant until one year after the last period, just in case you change your mind.

For any case, these feelings are normal. After menopause is complete, women tend to become more comfortable with their new roles in life and come to an acceptance of their new life roles.
